Hooker Falls is in the DuPont State Forest east of Brevard, North Carolina.  The falls is named for Edmund Hooker who operated a mill below the falls in the late 1800's.  At the time it was called Mill Shoals Falls.  Hooker Falls also appeared in the movie "Last of the Mohicans".
Hooker Falls drops 12 to 14 feet over a ledge.  There is a lot of room to position your camera along the left side of the falls.  When the weather is good expect there to be crowds around the falls and swimming in the river below the falls.
To get to Hooker Falls set in your GPS to Hooker Falls Access Area or click on the map below to open Google Maps.  Follow the marked trail from the parking lot to the falls.  All Trails has a good map.
For more information on Hooker Falls visit the Friends of DuPont Forest website and the Romantic Asheville website.  On a side note I worked for the DuPont Company for 40 years.  The company built the "Brevard" site in what is now the DuPont State Recreational Forest in the late 1950's to make semiconductor products.  They later made X-Ray film there before selling the business to Sterling Diagnostic Imaging.  I recommend you read the history of the forest to understand how it went from an industrial site to the recreational forest it is today.
