Speakman No. 1 is a historic wooden covered bridge located at East Fallowfield Township near Modena, just south of Coatesville, in Chester County, Pennsylvania. It is a 75-foot-long Burr Truss bridge, constructed in 1881.  Speakman #1 was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 10, 1980.  It is called Speakman Covered Bridge #1 is because it has a twin only 1/4 mile down the road. The Speakman Bridge #1 spans Buck Run Creek and measures 93 feet in length.  It is a Burr arch-truss design and was built by Ferdinand & Menander Wood.
In November, 2011, it experienced massive structural damage after a tractor-trailer hauling steel plates crossed over it.  The bridge was closed for almost 5 years because construction could not begin until a legal battle of property ownership was resolved.  PennDOT purchased the land the bridge sits on and began work on the project.  The bridge reopened to traffic in 2016 and remains open to this day.
