The Kennedy Covered Bridge is a historic wooden covered bridge spanning French Creek in East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Built in 1856, the 96-foot-long bridge features a traditional Burr truss design, a distinctive form of construction found throughout Pennsylvania’s historic covered-bridge landscape.
The bridge has endured more than a century and a half of changing conditions. It was damaged by a flood in 1884 and subsequently repaired. In 1936, additional structural reinforcement was added to help preserve the bridge and ensure its continued use.
Recognizing its architectural and historical significance, the Kennedy Covered Bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
Today, the bridge remains a beautiful example of Pennsylvania’s nineteenth-century covered-bridge heritage, combining traditional craftsmanship with the enduring character of the French Creek Valley.
